How It Started
In this family, a passion for food is basically genetic. Starting back in a small family restaurant in southwestern Pennsylvania, our culinary craft has been growing and expanding everyday. We’ve been working for years to develop quality recipes that not only capture the fine art of enhancing flavors and textures, but also look and smell as amazing as they taste! We aim to provide our customers with the highest quality food and a staff that is knowledgeable and passionate about amazing food.

OUR FOUNDER

Meet Criss
Criss brings over 35 years of extensive and widely-varied experience from the food and beverage industry to Smiley Brothers Specialty Foods. His career has spanned from small independent restaurants in the mountains of West Virginia and Southwestern Pennsylvania to resorts and hotels in Philadelphia and most recently here in Birmingham.
The 1980’s found him participating in the “Culinary Revolution” in Philadelphia and the mid-90’s brought him here to Birmingham as the Executive Chef and later, Food and Beverage Director for a national hotel company. After 35 years in the restaurant industry, Criss was able to retire and start working to bring Smiley Brothers to reality. He hopes to welcome the community into the Smiley Brothers family and share his skills, knowledge, and passion for food.

He hopes to welcome the community into the Smiley Brothers family and share his extensive knowledge gained through years of menu and recipe creation.
